XMEMS Introduces Sycamore Micro Speaker

xMEMS Labs has unveiled the Sycamore micro speaker, a groundbreaking full-range MEMS device designed for wearable technology such as smartwatches, XR glasses, and open-fit earbuds. Measuring just 1.13mm thick, it is one-seventh the size of traditional speakers, allowing for significant miniaturization in audio components while delivering enhanced sound quality across the frequency spectrum. The Sycamore employs a novel 'sound from ultrasound' platform, generating high-fidelity audio from ultrasonic waves, which enables devices to produce richer sound without compromising on design. With an IP58 rating for dust and water resistance, it is particularly suited for active users. Sampling for the Sycamore will commence in early 2025, with full production expected by October of the same year, marking a significant advancement in portable audio technology. The innovative design and performance improvements position Sycamore as a potential game-changer for mobile electronics.
