JFK Jr.’s Nephew Slams Ryan Murphy’s Unconsulted Series

Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX series "American Love Story" dramatizes the romance and tragic deaths of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, featuring Paul Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon in the lead roles. However, Jack Schlossberg, JFK Jr.'s nephew, has publicly criticized the series for proceeding without any consultation or involvement from the Kennedy family, noting that legally they have little control over the use of JFK Jr.'s image as he is considered a public figure and privacy rights do not survive death in New York. Schlossberg urged the creators to approach the project with respect to JFK Jr.'s legacy and values, and suggested donating some of the profits to charity. While he supports admiration for his uncle, Schlossberg condemned profiting from his life story in what he described as a "grotesque" manner. Representatives for Ryan Murphy and FX have not yet responded to these concerns. The series is slated to premiere in February 2026 and is part of Murphy's larger American Story anthology.
