Hulu's 'Washington Black' Premieres July 23

Hulu's limited series 'Washington Black,' premiering July 23, adapts Esi Edugyan’s novel about George Washington 'Wash' Black, an 11-year-old slave on a Barbados plantation whose scientific talents and a life-threatening escape with scientist Titch send him on a global adventure. The story spans the Caribbean, skies, oceans, deserts, and ultimately Halifax, Nova Scotia, where Wash forms a deep connection with Medwin Harris (Sterling K. Brown), a Black community leader. As Wash comes of age, he and Medwin influence each other's understanding of freedom and survival. The cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Ernest Kingsley Jr., Eddie Karanja, Tom Ellis, and others. The series blends historical fiction with elements of fantasy, adventure, danger, romance, and the power of dreams. All eight episodes will be available on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the US.
