Jean Boht, Star of Bread, Dies at 91

Veteran actress Jean Boht, best known for her role as Ma Boswell in the BBC sitcom 'Bread', passed away at the age of 91 on September 12, 2023, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Following her death, it was revealed that she left an estate valued at £2,634,969, which was reduced to £2,621,271 after liabilities. Boht's will designated her entire fortune to her two daughters, Hannah Law and Jessie Stevenson, both of whom are filmmakers. Her second husband, conductor Carl Davis, had died just six weeks earlier. Boht's portrayal of the matriarch in 'Bread' earned her numerous accolades, including a British Comedy Award, and the show was a significant hit during its run from 1986 to 1991.
