Los Angeles Court Dismisses Four Discrimination Claims Against Vin Diesel, Sexual Battery Lawsuit Continues
Vin Diesel had four employment discrimination claims dismissed in a lawsuit filed by his former assistant, Asta Jonasson, but still faces ongoing allegations of sexual battery and wrongful termination. The lawsuit, filed in 2023, alleges a 2010 sexual assault incident where Diesel allegedly pinned Jonasson against a wall and masturbated in front of her during the filming of Fast Five. The dismissal of the four claims was due to Jonasson's failure to file a timely administrative complaint with California’s Civil Rights Department, a jurisdictional requirement under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). A 2023 California law, the Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act, allowed some long-expired sexual assault claims to proceed, but it does not extend the deadline for administrative filings under FEHA. Diesel's attorney has denied all allegations, promising to present evidence that the claims are unfounded, while Jonasson's legal team intends to vigorously defend the remaining charges. The case continues with the more serious claims moving forward in court.
