Five Injured in Mass Shooting Bronzeville Chicago

Five people were shot in a mass shooting in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood on Monday afternoon, with the incident occurring on the 700 block of East 43rd Street near Cottage Grove Avenue. The victims included a woman in serious condition with a gunshot wound to her right leg, a 72-year-old woman shot in the left shoulder, and three men aged 35, 39, and 44 who sustained gunshot wounds to their arms or foot, all of whom were in stable or good condition. All victims were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment. Witnesses reported hearing more than a dozen gunshots and suggested the shooting may have been a drive-by, but police have not confirmed a motive or suspects. The police have collected numerous shell casings at the scene, and the area was cordoned off for investigation, with no arrests made so far. Area One and Wentworth Area detectives are actively investigating the case.
