Nigeria, Israel consider joint commission to enhance relations

Nigeria and Israel are considering the establishment of a joint commission aimed at enhancing bilateral relations across various sectors, including security, agriculture, health, education, and film production. This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, and Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman in Abuja. Ojukwu emphasized the importance of people-to-people diplomacy and expressed eagerness to benefit from Israel's advanced technology, particularly in food security through drip irrigation. She highlighted the minimal current trade volume of $250 million and encouraged Nigerian investors to explore opportunities in Israel. Both countries are looking forward to a high-level dialogue to solidify their collaboration, with plans for potential agreements in film production as well. Overall, the discussions reflect a commitment to deepen ties and address mutual challenges, including poverty alleviation and security.
