Maine Man Pleads Guilty to Lacing New Hampshire Ice Cream with THC, Sickening Four

Marc Flore, a 45-year-old man from Portland, Maine, pleaded guilty to tampering with consumer products after lacing a batch of coffee Oreo ice cream with THC at his shop in Newmarket, New Hampshire. The THC-infused ice cream, intended for Flore's personal use but improperly stored and unlabeled among other commercial ice cream, was unknowingly served by a catering company that took over the shop, sickening four patrons in March 2023. Victims experienced symptoms such as dizziness, elevated heart rates, vomiting, and some feared stroke-like effects, with three requiring brief hospitalizations. New Hampshire remains the only New England state without recreational cannabis legalization, adding legal seriousness to the incident. Flore faces up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000, though a plea deal proposes two years probation and restitution payments. The case was investigated by the FDA Office of Criminal Investigations and local police, with sentencing scheduled for November 2025.
