Marquez, Bezzecchi Crash; Aldeguer Wins Indonesia MotoGP

Marc Marquez and polesitter Marco Bezzecchi collided on the opening lap of the Indonesia Grand Prix at Mandalika when Bezzecchi slid from first to seventh and his move struck the rear of Marquez’s Ducati, sending both riders into the gravel and immediately ending their races. Both walked away, with Marquez clutching his right shoulder and later pictured in a sling. Ducati said scans showed evidence of a right collarbone injury and that Marquez would travel to Madrid for further medical tests to decide treatment. The chaotic opening allowed Spanish rookie Fermin Aldeguer to take victory at Mandalika. Marquez, who had just secured his seventh MotoGP world title at Motegi and had crashed twice in Friday practice, has a long history of serious injuries including a 2020 right-arm fracture and had complained about tyre grip and slide-control tuning at the circuit.
