MGX, Nvidia Lead €8.5B Project for Europe’s Largest AI Campus Near Paris
Nvidia, UAE-based investment firm MGX, French national bank Bpifrance, and generative AI company Mistral AI have formed a joint venture to build Europe’s largest AI campus near Paris, with a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts and an expected operational date in 2028. The €8.5 billion facility will serve as an open platform supporting the entire AI lifecycle—including model training, inference, and deployment—and will feature exascale-class computing, sovereign cloud integration, and low-carbon hyperscale infrastructure. The campus aims to accelerate AI breakthroughs across sectors such as healthcare, energy, finance, mobility, and manufacturing, while bolstering Europe's digital and climate sovereignty. This initiative aligns with broader cooperation agreements between the UAE and France, supported by their presidents, to invest heavily in AI infrastructure and innovation. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described the project as “transformational infrastructure for France,” and partners emphasized the campus’s role in strengthening Europe's technological sovereignty and fostering innovation in science, education, and public services. The project’s strategic location near Paris will integrate with France’s research ecosystems and promote sustainable and competitive AI development in Europe.
