Three Men Charged in Air Jordan Heist
Three men have been charged with stealing 1,278 pairs of Air Jordan 11 Retro shoes worth over $311,000 from a train in the Mojave Desert, California. Bryan Quintero Echarravia, 18, Bernardo Romero Quintero, 34, and Olegario Flores, 26, were arrested after authorities tracked the stolen goods using a GPS device embedded in the shipment. The theft was reported by BNSF railway police after the shipping container was separated from the train, prompting an investigation by the California Highway Patrol. The suspects face felony charges of grand theft and receiving stolen property, with a maximum penalty of three years in state prison upon conviction. Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer emphasized law enforcement's commitment to prosecuting organized theft rings. The shoes were recovered from a U-Haul truck in Anaheim, where they had been transported after the heist.
