Maryland, Baltimore Sue Glock Over Gun Violence

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott have filed a lawsuit against gun manufacturer Glock, Inc., accusing the company of contributing to gun violence by selling handguns that can easily be converted into illegal machine guns using a 'Glock Switch'. These devices can turn a handgun into an automatic weapon capable of firing 1,200 rounds per minute and have been increasingly recovered at crime scenes across Baltimore, highlighting a significant public safety concern. The lawsuit claims Glock has failed to implement reasonable controls to prevent the modification of its pistols, knowingly allowing criminals to arm themselves with automatic firepower. In response, the city seeks an injunction and other legal remedies to halt the sale of such firearms unless Glock changes its design. The legal action emphasizes Glock's awareness of the modifications and their impact on gun violence, further urging the company to take responsibility and adjust its manufacturing practices. This lawsuit follows a similar successful settlement with another gun manufacturer, Polymer 80, which was involved in the production of 'ghost guns'.
