Glasgow's ABC Building Demolition Underway

The Trinity Broadcasting Network building in Costa Mesa is slated for demolition to make way for 146 units of housing, including 126 townhomes and 20 single-family residences, as part of a city plan to increase density in response to high land costs. This proposal, which requires rezoning, aims to provide affordable options for first-time buyers, with plans for eight deed-restricted units for low-income residents. In Glasgow, the ABC building, a former cinema and music venue, is set to be demolished after a dangerous buildings notice was issued due to its deteriorating state following fire damage in 2018. Despite campaigners' efforts to preserve its iconic art deco façade, city planners ruled that retention is not viable due to safety concerns. Similarly, Sunderland City Council has approved the demolition of Co-Operative House to regenerate the area, as the building has been deemed an eyesore. These demolitions reflect ongoing efforts in various cities to address urban decay and housing shortages.
