Ohio, Virginia Launch Major Sales Tax Holidays

Ohio has launched its longest-ever sales tax holiday from August 1 to 14, exempting most items under $500 from sales tax both in stores and online, with exceptions for vehicles, alcohol, and tobacco. Virginia is holding a three-day tax-free event covering clothing, school supplies, and energy-efficient appliances. Oklahoma and Iowa are also participating, with Oklahoma waiving taxes on most clothing and shoes under $100, and Iowa focusing its holiday on clothing and shoes under $100. West Virginia is no longer mentioned among participating states. Retailers are preparing for increased demand and are offering additional promotions to maximize savings. These sales tax holidays are expected to provide significant financial relief for families and give a boost to local businesses ahead of the school year.
