This location will be Wisconsin's largest all-sports store and will occupy the space previously held by the Boston Store, which closed in 2018. The new store is expected to create over 500 jobs, mainly for local employee-owners, and will offer a variety of attractions such as specialty shops, arcade games, and a café. Scheels CEO Matt Hanson expressed excitement about expanding their presence in the Milwaukee metro area, citing successful existing stores in Appleton and Eau Claire. The redevelopment is part of a larger project that includes plans for residential development nearby, with the city of Wauwatosa working closely with Brookfield Properties on these initiatives. This development is seen as a significant boost for the local economy and Mayfair Mall's status as a premier shopping destination.
