Teen Charged with Attempted Murder of 49ers Rookie

A 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall during a robbery attempt in Union Square. The charges include assault with a semi-automatic firearm and second-degree attempted robbery. The altercation, which occurred as Pearsall was returning to his car with shopping bags, resulted in both individuals being shot. Pearsall, who was struck in the chest but avoided life-threatening injuries, has been placed on the non-football injury list and will miss at least four games. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins indicated that a judge will decide if the teen will be tried as an adult, which could significantly impact the case's outcome. Both Pearsall and the suspect were treated at San Francisco General Hospital and have since been released.
