Dehydration was also noted as a significant contributing factor to his demise. Lynch had struggled with emphysema due to decades of smoking, which he acknowledged had severely impacted his health, making him housebound and reliant on supplemental oxygen for basic activities. He passed away on January 15 at his daughter's home after being evacuated due to wildfires in Los Angeles, which reportedly worsened his condition. His family announced his death on social media, expressing their grief and loss. Lynch was cremated, with his remains buried on January 22 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
