U2 Explores Sci-Fi Irish Folk Music

U2 guitarist The Edge revealed that the band is currently recording new music, including a unique blend of 'sci-fi Irish folk music' developed in collaboration with Brian Eno. This surprising direction comes after frontman Bono expressed a desire to create a more aggressive rock album, although The Edge notes that their current creative process is exploratory and unrestrained. Notably, drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who had been recovering from surgery, is back in the studio, contributing to the recordings. The Edge emphasized that the band is enjoying the music-making process without overthinking it, with several projects in the pipeline. U2's last album of new material was released in 2017, and the band has recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their album 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb'.
