South Africa Appoints Shukri Conrad All-Format Proteas Head Coach

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the early departure of head coach Jose Riveiro, opening the door for changes in South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL) coaching landscape. Amir Abdou, a highly respected African coach with a UEFA Pro License and notable success with Comoros and Mauritania at the Africa Cup of Nations, is currently in South Africa and in discussions with multiple PSL clubs, though no appointments have been finalized. Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has appointed Shukri Conrad as the all-format head coach of the Proteas men's cricket team, succeeding Rob Walter. Conrad, who has been leading the Test side since January 2023 and took the team to the World Test Championship final against Australia, will now also coach the One-Day International and T20 International teams through to the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, which South Africa will co-host. He expressed pride and excitement about managing South Africa's strong white-ball talent and the busy international schedule ahead, including the WTC final, the 2026 T20 World Cup, and the 2027 ODI World Cup. CSA praised Conrad's track record for building a solid team identity and foundation across formats.
