Cheniere Expands LNG Capacity, Boosts Dividend
Cheniere Energy has approved construction of Midscale Trains 8 and 9 at its Corpus Christi LNG facility, which will add about 5 million tonnes per annum of capacity and boost the company's total production capacity to over 60 million tonnes annually by 2028. This phase of expansion will cost $2.9 billion, with Cheniere planning to deploy over $25 billion in available cash through 2030 for further growth and shareholder returns. The company will increase its annual dividend to $2.22 per share in the third quarter of 2025, up from $2.00. Brownfield expansions at Corpus Christi and Sabine Pass could raise total capacity to around 75 million tonnes per year by the early 2030s. Construction will be managed by Bechtel Energy, with recent milestones including substantial completion of Train 1 and initial production from Train 2 at Corpus Christi Stage 3. Cheniere remains the largest U.S. LNG producer and continues to expand its global leadership.
