Aston Villa are set to make Nice striker Evann Guessand their first major signing of the summer, agreeing a deal worth around £30.5 million including add-ons. The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international, who scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 last season and was named Nice's player of the season, is expected to complete a medical and sign a long-term contract with Villa. Guessand's versatility and goal-scoring ability will bolster Unai Emery's attacking options, complementing England forward Ollie Watkins, who remains at the club despite transfer interest. Villa's summer activity has been cautious due to Premier League profitability and sustainability regulations, with goalkeeper Marco Bizot also signed as a backup.
