Blue Origin launches all-women crew including Katy Perry
On April 14, Blue Origin will launch its NS-31 mission, featuring an all-female crew for the first time in a multi-person flight, including pop star Katy Perry, journalist Gayle King, and Lauren Sánchez, fiancée of Jeff Bezos. The launch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET from West Texas, with the flight expected to last approximately 11 minutes, reaching the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. Other crew members include former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe and bioastronautics researcher Amanda Nguyen. This historic mission follows a tradition of celebrity space travels, raising discussions about the implications of space tourism during economic hardships. Blue Origin's CEO has stated the company is focused on future missions, including plans to land on the moon. The launch will be livestreamed for global audiences.
