The AIADMK staged widespread protests across Tamil Nadu against the DMK government over repeated power tariff hikes. Former AIADMK ministers accused the DMK of taking undue credit for AIADMK's achievements and failing to fulfill its promises, such as the implementation of a monthly power bill system. Protests were held in Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Pollachi, Coimbatore, and Mettuppalayam, where party members condemned the impact of tariff hikes on industries and essential commodities. In response, Tamil Nadu Finance and Electricity Minister Thangam Thennarasu blamed AIADMK's acceptance of the UDAY scheme for the financial troubles leading to tariff hikes. He highlighted the AIADMK's own history of tariff increases during their tenure. The protests also included criticisms of the DMK's handling of law and order and essential services like ration supplies.
