Volkswagen unveils ID.1 €20,000 electric car plans for March 5 debut

Volkswagen is set to unveil its new entry-level electric vehicle, tentatively named the ID.Every 1, on March 5, with a starting price of around €20,000 (approximately $20,800). This compact EV is designed to succeed the discontinued VW Up! and is aimed at the European market, featuring a playful design and expected to offer two battery options. The ID.Every 1 will utilize a new entry-level MEB platform, promising a driving range of up to 279 miles. Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer emphasized that this model, along with the upcoming ID.2, will be crucial to the brand's future plans for affordable electric vehicles. The ID.2 is also in the pipeline, projected to launch next year at a price under €25,000. The ID.Every 1 is part of a broader strategy to introduce nine new models by 2027, catering to the growing demand for budget-friendly EVs.
