Akiva Goldsman Reboots Classic Sci-Fi Series

Akiva Goldsman is set to reboot three classic Irwin Allen sci-fi TV series—Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, and The Time Tunnel—into a modern interconnected universe for Legendary Television. Goldsman, known for his diverse portfolio including Star Trek: Picard and I Am Legend, aims to bring contemporary sensibilities to these retro-futuristic tales while maintaining their timeless appeal. These series originally aired in the 1960s, with each offering unique adventures such as time travel and encounters with oversized beings. Goldsman will draw from his experience in revitalizing franchises, similar to his work with the Star Trek series. Jon Jashni will serve as executive producer, with Derek Thielges co-producing, to appeal to a new generation of viewers. Notably, Allen's other famed series, Lost in Space, is not part of this project as it was recently rebooted separately.
