Kangaroo Escapes Enclosure After Bear Encounter in Florida

A kangaroo is currently on the loose in Pierson, Florida, after escaping its enclosure due to a bear entering the area, according to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood. The sheriff shared updates via social media, noting that the kangaroo was spotted hopping along a roadside but remains unlocated as of October 18. Local officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are assisting in the search and confirmed the kangaroo belongs to a nearby resident. Chitwood humorously remarked on the unusual situation, saying, 'Pierson is hopping tonight.' There have been no sightings reported since the initial escape, but authorities remain in contact with the owner, monitoring the situation closely.
