Bushra Bibi Released on Bail From Jail

Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been released from Adiala Jail after nearly nine months of incarceration. The Islamabad High Court granted her bail in the Toshakhana case, which involved allegations of illegally retaining and selling state gifts during Khan's tenure. Her release was expedited after the submission of bail bonds worth Rs1 million, despite initial delays due to procedural issues and the absence of judges to sign the release order. Following her release, she was quickly whisked away from the jail amidst a supportive crowd of PTI workers. Khan, who is also imprisoned, has been in jail since August 2023. The Toshakhana case alleges that the couple unlawfully kept valuable gifts, including a jewelry set, received from foreign dignitaries.
