Man dies following street fight in Sheffield, four arrested

A 34-year-old man, Lee Wesson, died after a large street fight in the Stocksbridge area of Sheffield, where police responded to reports of a disturbance involving a group of people, one reportedly armed with a knife. Wesson was arrested at the scene and required urgent medical attention before being taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries two days later. His family described him as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and grandson, and are being supported by police. Following the incident, four people—a woman and three men—were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, with one also suspected of perverting the course of justice; all have since been bailed. The post-mortem examination returned an unascertained cause of death, and police are appealing for witnesses as they continue reviewing CCTV and conducting their investigation. The case has also been referred to the Professional Standards Department and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in accordance with standard procedure.
