Serena Williams Produces 'Carrie Soto' Netflix Series

Serena Williams will executive produce a Netflix series adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel 'Carrie Soto Is Back', through her production company Nine Two Six. The story revolves around a retired tennis player, Carrie Soto, who returns to the sport to defend her record, and is loosely inspired by Williams' own career. Amanda Kate Shuman will write and executive produce the series, and the production will involve Picturestart and Fifth Season as co-studios. While the character is not directly based on Williams, Jenkins Reid has acknowledged the influence of the Williams sisters on her writing. This project adds to Williams' expanding role in entertainment, following her previous production successes.
