Influencer Granted Bail After Drugging, Torturing Daughter

A 34-year-old Queensland social media influencer has been granted bail despite facing serious charges, including administering poison with intent to harm and torture, following allegations that she drugged her 18-month-old daughter. The court heard that the woman allegedly administered unauthorized medications, including anticonvulsants, to her child, who suffers from a genetic disorder, in order to elicit $60,000 in donations through crowdfunding. Prosecutors claim she filmed the child's distress and manipulated medical symptoms, which necessitated brain surgeries. Evidence presented included video footage showing the woman tampering with her child's nasogastric tube and administering medications while trying to evade detection. The magistrate imposed strict bail conditions, including no contact with the child, but noted the defendant's low risk of self-harm and lack of flight attempts since the investigation began. The case will return to court on February 17 for further proceedings.
