Hulu Orders Mystery Comedy Series Phony Starring Connie Britton

Hulu has ordered the comedy mystery series "Phony," starring Connie Britton and Sam Nivola, with production by 20th Television. The show centers on Sonny (Nivola), a beloved high school student who wakes up after a car accident to find his single mother Ellen (Britton), also his school principal, replaced by an impostor. Created by Nick Paley, who serves as showrunner alongside Anthony King, the half-hour series blends coming-of-age themes with a surreal mystery. Britton and Nivola, both alumni of "The White Lotus," executive produce alongside Paley, King, Charlie Alderman, Drew Goddard, and Sarah Esberg. Paley is known for his work on "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On" and "Broad City," while King brings experience from Broadway and television. The series has generated anticipation but has yet to announce a release date.
