Monty Williams Joins TMI Episcopal as Head Coach

Monty Williams, former NBA Coach of the Year and head coach for the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns, has accepted a new role as head coach at TMI Episcopal, a private prep school in San Antonio. This move comes after his firing from the Pistons following a disappointing 14-68 season. Williams will coach his son Elijah, a highly-ranked high school basketball prospect, as well as the sons of other former Spurs players like Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan. The transition to high school coaching allows Williams to stay close to his family and reconnect with his roots in San Antonio, where he previously played for the Spurs and held a coaching intern position. Despite a challenging last NBA season, Williams' past success includes leading the Suns to the NBA Finals in 2021 and earning the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2022.
