Amazon's God of War Series Restarts Development

Amazon's adaptation of the popular video game series God of War is undergoing significant changes as showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have exited the project. Although their scripts were reportedly well-received by Sony and Amazon, the studios are opting for a new creative direction and will hire a completely new writers' room. The decision follows a series announcement in December 2022, but the lack of recent updates has raised concerns among fans about the series' future. The narrative will follow Kratos on a journey with his son, as they battle gods and monsters in a Norse mythology setting. With these major changes, the series' debut is expected to be delayed, but God of War remains a key asset for Prime Video. Creative directors from the original team, including Cory Barlog, will continue to serve as executive producers.
