China Urges G7 to Stop Manipulating China Issues Ahead of Canada Summit

Ahead of the 2025 G7 summit in Canada, China has strongly criticized the G7 for maintaining a Cold War mentality, interfering in other countries' internal affairs, and manipulating China-related issues for their own interests. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian urged the G7 to cease such actions, which he said foment division, undermine development, and are doomed to fail, instead calling for efforts that promote international solidarity and cooperation. The criticism follows the 2024 G7 summit in Italy, where China was mentioned over 20 times, and the group warned against Chinese financial institutions aiding Russia and unfair trade practices. Beijing also expressed concern about the involvement of non-G7 countries like India and Brazil in previous summits, viewing it as an attempt to create global divisions. The upcoming summit will feature new leaders from five G7 countries, including the United States and Canada, and will focus on global economic strategies amid ongoing tensions. These developments highlight escalating trade and diplomatic frictions between China and the G7 bloc.
