Boca Raton Expands Electric Shuttle Service to Beach Area

Boca Raton's electric vehicle shuttle service, BocaConnect, has expanded its coverage to include the barrier island, enhancing transportation options for residents and visitors. The City Council approved the expansion on February 11, with service beginning on February 24, now allowing travel from the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center to the Boca Raton Inlet. Rides within the downtown area remain free, while rides starting or ending outside this area cost $2, with a maximum fare of $5. The service is designed to reduce traffic congestion and promote eco-friendly travel, utilizing an all-electric fleet. Wait times for rides are typically 10 minutes or less, and passengers can request rides via the Circuit app. This expansion is part of a 12-month pilot program aimed at improving mobility around Boca Raton.
