Four Teens Charged in Indianapolis Mass Shooting

Four teenagers, ages 13, 15, 16, and 17, have been charged in connection with a downtown Indianapolis mass shooting that occurred after Fourth of July celebrations, resulting in two deaths and at least five injuries. Vincent Lanking Jr., the 17-year-old, is charged as an adult with dangerous possession of a firearm, resisting law enforcement, and obstruction of justice. The younger suspects face charges including dangerous possession of firearms, theft of a firearm, possession of marijuana, and resisting law enforcement. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears and Indianapolis Police Chief Chris Bailey raised concerns about minors' access to firearms and called for increased parental oversight. State officials are now pushing for greater accountability measures for prosecutors and reforms to address juvenile crime. The investigation is ongoing and more charges may still be filed.
