Cameron Diaz to Star in Netflix’s Bad Day

Cameron Diaz is set to star in the Netflix action-comedy Bad Day, directed by Jake Szymanski and written by Laura Solon, about a single mother trying to fulfill a promise to her daughter on the worst day of her life. The film draws comedic inspiration from the 1993 drama Falling Down and will begin filming in fall 2025 in New York and New Jersey. Producer Beau Bauman, who previously worked with Diaz on Back in Action, will return for this project. Back in Action marked Diaz’s major comeback, becoming Netflix’s most-watched original movie of 2025 and the sixth most-watched movie of all time, with over 5.26 billion minutes streamed. Netflix’s recent focus on reviving '90s-era stars is seen as a contributing factor in Diaz's career resurgence. There is high anticipation that Bad Day will further cement her Hollywood comeback.
