Conway Teen Charged With Myrtle Beach Peaches Corner Murder

A 17-year-old Conway teen, Evany McCray, has been charged with murder and other serious offenses after a deadly shooting at Myrtle Beach's landmark Peaches Corner restaurant. The incident occurred late on June 27 following a verbal dispute between McCray, an employee at Peaches, and another individual, which quickly escalated when McCray pulled out a gun and shot two people, killing 18-year-old Grayson Meyers and injuring another with non-life-threatening injuries. McCray faces multiple charges including murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon as a minor, and will be tried as an adult. Police officers on patrol nearby responded within seconds, detaining McCray less than a minute after the shooting. Authorities have not released the victim's name immediately but confirmed Meyers as the deceased. Community officials expressed concern over youth unlawfully carrying firearms, highlighting ongoing societal issues related to youth violence.
