Old National Lays Off 244 Employees at Bremer Lake Elmo Service Center

Following its $1.4 billion acquisition of Bremer Bank, Old National Bancorp is laying off 244 employees at the Bremer service center in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. The layoffs, affecting a range of back-office and professional roles such as accounting, cybersecurity, legal, payroll, and benefits, will be conducted between October 24 and November 14, 2025, with all positions eliminated by the end of 2026. These job cuts are part of the integration process following the merger and do not impact Bremer's downtown St. Paul headquarters or other branches like St. Cloud. The affected employees are not unionized and lack bumping rights, while the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development will assist with retraining and job placement. Old National's merger with Bremer ended a yearslong legal dispute regarding Bremer's attempted sale strategy. Local officials expressed regret over the layoffs and hope the vacated Lake Elmo facility will attract new business opportunities.
