Tesla Resumes Search for Showroom in New Delhi

Tesla has revived its search for showroom space in New Delhi, signaling a potential re-entry into the Indian market after previously pausing its investment plans earlier in 2024. The company is in early-stage discussions with real estate developer DLF to secure locations, including the Avenue Mall in Delhi and the Cyber Hub in Gurugram, aiming for a consumer experience center and expanded service operations. This development follows Elon Musk's canceled trip to India in April, where he was expected to announce a significant investment of $2-3 billion. Tesla's plans had initially stalled due to high import duties and a restructuring that resulted in layoffs of over 10% of its workforce. Although talks are ongoing, no agreements have been finalized, and Tesla's strategy in India remains uncertain amid regulatory challenges. The company continues to explore multiple options for establishing a showroom that could facilitate its market entry.
