India Women Begin World Cup Camp in Visakhapatnam

The Indian women's cricket team is commencing their 2025 World Cup preparations with a week-long skill-based conditioning camp in Visakhapatnam starting August 25, strategically chosen to help players acclimate to the ACA-VDCA Stadium where they will play crucial matches against South Africa and Australia. Only captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and all-rounder Sneh Rana have prior experience at this venue, making the camp vital for team readiness. The camp includes all World Cup squad members, reserves, and India A players, culminating in two intra-squad day-night practice matches. The training was originally planned in Bengaluru but was relocated due to the Karnataka State Cricket Association's failure to secure police clearance for hosting matches. Following the camp, India will play a three-match ODI series against Australia in New Chandigarh starting September 16, then warm-up matches against England and New Zealand in Bengaluru before the World Cup opener against Sri Lanka on September 30 in Guwahati. Other venues for the home World Cup include Guwahati, Indore, and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, with the latter replacing Bengaluru due to safety clearance issues.
