Massachusetts Officers Disciplined in Karen Read Case

Two Massachusetts police officers involved in the Karen Read murder trial are facing disciplinary actions for misconduct. Sergeant Yuriy Bukhenik will forfeit five days of leave for failing to discipline Trooper Michael Proctor, who sent unprofessional text messages about Read during the investigation, including derogatory remarks. Proctor has been suspended without pay as a result of his actions. Additionally, Canton Police Detective Kevin Albert has been suspended for three shifts after it was revealed he was drinking on duty while involved in the investigation. The ongoing legal proceedings against Read, accused of killing her boyfriend John O’Keefe, continue with a retrial set for January 27. This misconduct has raised concerns about the integrity of the investigation and the officers' conduct during the trial.
