Fort Wayne's public pools, McMillen and Northside, will close for the season at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, due to a shortage of certified lifeguards as staff return to school. The Memorial Pool remained closed this year because of similar staffing challenges. While the pools shut down, families can still enjoy nine splash pads in the area, which will remain open through September. Meanwhile, the Aquatic & Fitness Center pool will close on August 4 for a renovation project lasting 6 to 8 weeks, which includes essential repairs and upgrades. In Humboldt, the Aquatic Centre will also shut down for annual maintenance starting Friday, August 2, until August 16, allowing for necessary repairs and upkeep. Families are encouraged to visit other nearby facilities during these closures.
