Sir Tom Jones has labeled the BBC a 'cold place' after being dropped from The Voice UK ahead of its fifth series, expressing shock at the abrupt manner of his dismissal. Despite having anticipated the show's return and hearing rumors of Paloma Faith replacing Rita Ora, he was informed just a month before filming that he would not be returning, with Boy George taking his place. In his autobiography, he recounted that his management was told he was simply 'out of contract' when they inquired about the decision. At 84, Sir Tom acknowledged that while no one is a permanent fixture, the way the BBC handled his departure was particularly surprising. He has since returned to The Voice, now airing on ITV, alongside new judges LeAnn Rimes, Danny Jones, and Tom Fletcher.
