2024 Mercury Prize Winner Announcement Set

The 2024 Mercury Prize winner will be announced on September 5 during a live broadcast from Abbey Road Studios, replacing the traditional awards ceremony. The event will air on BBC Four from 8 PM to 9:15 PM, with the overall winner revealed around 9 PM. This year's shortlist features twelve albums, including works by Charli XCX, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Beth Gibbons, with eight of the twelve acts being female or female-fronted, marking a historic gender balance. BBC Radio 6 Music will also cover the event from 7 PM to 11 PM, with Tom Ravenscroft and Deb Grant hosting. Additionally, BBC Sounds will offer a special collection featuring introductions to the shortlisted albums and playlists celebrating both this year's nominees and past winners.
