Arrest Made in 1992 Murder Case in Massachusetts

Authorities have recently made significant breakthroughs in two cold case murder investigations in Massachusetts, leading to arrests more than 30 years after the crimes occurred. In Westport, 62-year-old Simao Farias has been indicted for the 2005 murder of Suzanna Alvarado, whose body was discovered on the roadside, and DNA evidence linked him to the crime. Meanwhile, 65-year-old Edward J. Watson has been arrested for the 1992 murder of Michelle Miller, a former U.S. Army soldier, following evidence that he killed her at the behest of her abusive partner, Daniel Innis. Miller's body was found in a vacant apartment basement two weeks after she went missing, and investigators utilized archived records to uncover details about the abuse she suffered. Both cases highlight the ongoing efforts of cold case units in Massachusetts to bring justice to victims and their families. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office led these investigations.
