Thousands of Flags Placed on Veterans’ Graves Across US Cemeteries for Memorial Day

Across the United States, communities are observing Memorial Day by planting American flags at the graves of fallen veterans as a tribute to their sacrifices. In Bridgeport, Connecticut, the Port 5 Naval Association carried out their annual ritual of placing flags on veterans' graves at Park Cemetery to honor their service. Similarly, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus placed about 250 flags at the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, emphasizing the importance of remembering the ultimate sacrifice made by veterans. In Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, volunteers from Live! Casino Pittsburgh planted flags at over 4,000 veterans' graves in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, with additional help from the Boy Scouts to ensure all graves were marked. In Granger, Indiana, Michiana Homes for Heroes planted 700 flags at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, continuing a tradition since 2016 to honor fallen soldiers.
