UMD Basketball Teams Lose Overtime Games
Both the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's and women's basketball teams faced defeats against Winona State University in overtime on Wednesday night. The men's team, after leading by as much as 20 points, lost 72-71 due to a last-second layup that forced overtime and subsequent free throws by Winona's Luke Haertle. Charlie Katona led UMD with 21 points, marking their first home loss of the season. Similarly, the women's team fell 67-65, relinquishing a halftime lead and allowing Winona to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Myra Moorjani led the Bulldogs with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams are set to face Concordia-St. Paul to conclude 2024 on December 21.
