Tesla Opens Largest Battery Repair Hub in Australia

Tesla is developing a large battery repair and remanufacturing facility in Collie, Western Australia, which is set to enhance the region's transition from coal to renewable energy. The facility will service Tesla's Megapack and Powerwall products, with an initial operational capacity of 219 MW/877 MWh already in place and plans to expand to 560 MW/2,240 MWh. Energy Minister Reece Whitby highlighted this facility as the largest of its kind in Australia, expected to serve both local needs and the wider Asia-Pacific region. The project, supported by a Memorandum of Understanding with the state government, aims to create around 50 local jobs while reducing logistical costs and emissions. Tesla's Regional Director of Energy emphasized the importance of local support for customers and the facility's role in advancing sustainable energy initiatives. Completion is anticipated by 2026, marking a significant step in the region's energy infrastructure transformation.
