Oklahoma Man Arrested for 1969 Nebraska Murder
Joseph A. Ambroz, a 77-year-old man, has been arrested in connection with the 1969 murder of 17-year-old Mary Kay Heese in Nebraska. Heese was reported missing on March 25, 1969, and her body was discovered the following day with over a dozen stab wounds, leading investigators to believe she had attempted to escape from her attacker. Ambroz was indicted for first-degree murder following the recent exhumation of Heese's body, which provided new evidence. The U.S. Marshals arrested him in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he had recently moved. He is currently being held in Oklahoma and is expected to be extradited to Nebraska for court proceedings. The case had remained unsolved for 55 years, prompting renewed efforts from Heese's family and law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice.
